Step-by-Step Process
- Prepare your eggs and tools – Choose clean, smooth eggs and gather a kistka, beeswax, and dyes.
- Apply wax – Use the kistka to draw lines and shapes with melted wax. Wherever the wax is applied, the surface of the egg will stay protected from the dye.
- Dye the egg – Start with the lightest colour and move gradually to darker ones. After each dye, cover the areas you want to preserve with more wax.
- Remove the wax – Gently heat the egg and wipe away the wax to reveal the multicoloured design underneath.
- Finish – Coat the egg with varnish or sealant for shine and protection.
